International Day

We have had fabulous day today celebrating the diversity of several different countries. I thoroughly enjoyed visiting all the classes to see them designing and building their landmarks as well as smelling the delicious food dishes that were being created.
Nursery learnt about New Zealand and created their own hukka dance.
Reception learnt about Romania and made a super waterfall.
Year 1 experienced an African drumming workshop and discovered more about South Africa. Their model of Table Mountain in Cape Town was fantastic.
Year 2 were able to skype a teacher in the USA and ask him lots of interesting questions and their clay models of landmarks were spectacular.
Year 3 made a delicious French dressing and built the Eiffel Tower out of newspaper and French bread!
Year 4 made a truly magnificent model of The Rockies as part of their study of Canada and the children wrote some informative leaflets.
Year 5 put an incredible amount of effort into the planning and building of the pyramids.
Year 6 managed to build an excellent ancient temple from Mexico as well as the stunning statue of Christ the Redeemer in Brazil.
My map skills were tested as I drew the world map on the floor of the hall but all the landmarks looked amazing when they were put together.
Thank you so much to all the staff for their imaginative and inspiring planning and to the parents as always for their support and encouragement.DSCF5163
