We had an amazing morning at school with our visitors from all our local schools. The children took part in activities such as den building, pebble painting, bulb planting, blindfold walks in the forest, chicken feeding and toasting marshmallows. It was lovely to see all the children making friends and supporting each other.
A massive thank you to everyone who helped make this event such a huge success.

Abbots in Transition
Year 2 Leaf bunting
Year 2 Landscape pictures
Today we discussed the difference between village and city life. The children then made landscape pictures depicting this.
We have tried out our new workbenches to help us make our timber framed houses.
Sewing poppies with Year 3
Year 3 had a busy afternoon today. Not only did they make jam but they also began sewing their poppies for the WWI anniversary art work we are creating. We saw some fantastic sewing skills and the children discussed how effective the paper poppies are.
Making jam with Year 3
This afternoon the children made their first batch of jam. They decided on plum flavour. It took a while to get the fruit to the correct temperature but we made 7 jars of delicious plum jam.
The children also designed their labels for the jam.
Forest Club
Forest Club started again today after our summer break and we had a great time in the sunshine. It was lovely to welcome our first lot of Year 2 children who were busy helping us prepare the forest for our Abbots in Transition event that is being held on Thursday morning for local schools. The children cleared the hay bales, collected sticks for den building and made leaf bunting.
We found some interesting bugs in the hay.
On Friday lunchtime we will hold forest club for the children in Rosen and Dahl who sent their slips back. We look forward to that.
We were so lucky to meet a man who came from Nottingham to remember his Grandad who lived in the village before he lost his life in the war. He told us about his Grandad that he never met. We asked him lots of questions. It gave us a chance to understand how families are affected by war.
Year 3 visit Abbots Langley War Memorial
We had a special visit to the village today to investigate the impact World War 1 had on the people of Abbots Langley.
The children were able to read all the names on the memorial due to the beautiful clean up operation that has taken place to mark the 100 year anniversary since the beginning of the war.
We were all particularly moved by the grave we found of 3 brothers all killed during the war.
We were so proud of the way our children behaved so respectfully.
