We had another amazing afternoon at Cassiobury Park investigating the River Gade.

The children used bike wheels to create their own Zoetropes and started to saw the wood to make the frames for the gears.
This week we talked about hedgehogs and the children either made hedgehogs out of leaves or mud.
They also discovered lots of fungi and remembered the names from last week.
The children attempted to row in unison. Sadly we had to improvise because of the weather so instead of using sticks in the forest, we used hockey sticks in the classroom.
We also made supports for our oars.
We had a fantastic afternoon in Cassiobury Park investing the flow and depth of the river as well as looking for wildlife. The children had great fun and managed to bring some of the river back to school in their wellingtons!
We had a fantastic afternoon investigating river depth, flow and erosion.
A few soggy feet from deep water but great fun had by all.
The children looked at pictures of a Penny Farthing bike and compared the mechanisms with a bike we had in class. We discussed how gears and cogs work to turn the wheels then had a go at making our own.
We looked at some information about different types of fungi today and then went into the forest to see what we could find. The children made some interesting discoveries.
Our Year 3 children invited their parents in to the Lodge to see their fantastic poppy badges today. We want to say a huge thank you for all the generous donations for the Royal British Legion.
